Liet InternationalSong festival for the best new song in a European minority language

The Sámi won Liet International four times and therefore can be considered to be the most musical minority of Europe. The last Sámi band which won Liet International was SomBy. They originate from Vuotso, the southernmost Sámi community in Finland. SomBy plays Sámi hardrock. At Liet International they were by far the youngest participants. Yet they won because of the quality of the song and their dynamic and enthusiast presentation. Three years later SomBy has matured. The band produced new songs and video clips of a very good quality, which led to a rather large following throughout Scandinavia. In SomBy three of the five band members are girls, performing in very colourful gákti.
