Yldau Bylsma and Yldau Hoekstra are two talented Frisian singers who met at the conservatory of Zwolle, outside Friesland. They discovered that their voices match really well and came up with the idea to participate at Frisian songcontest Liet 2012. Most of the lyrics of Fjoer (Fire) were written in the train, and the girls submitted their song. When the invitation for the final arrived the girls rapidly formed the band Yldau with Jan Hoekstra (guitar),Marije Hoekstra (drums), Paul van Dyk (piano), Richard Riemersma (gitaar) and Abel van der Laan (bass). The result was more than satisfactory: Yldau won Liet 2012 and therefore qualified for Liet International 2012 in Asturias. In Friesland Foundation Liet already closely follows Yldau Bylsma for a number of years. The blond Yldau also won the songcontest for adolescents SjONG in 2008.
