Liet International 2018 XXL

Liet International 2018 XXL will be one of the activities during LF2018, where Ljouwert/Leeuwarden and the whole region of Friesland is cultural capital of Europe in 2018. Liet International 2018 XXL takes place on 23 May 2018 in creative hotspot Neushoorn in the city centre of Ljouwert/Leeuwarden in the north of the Netherlands.

After almost 10 years Liet International will be back in the city where it all began in 2002, with the first edition of Liet International. After several editions being a travelling festival the organisation is glad to have the festival at home again (last time was in 2009). Creative hotspot Neushoorn has been the home of several editions of the Frisian song festival Liet now, and with very positive experiences from this venue we are glad to organise Liet International 2018 XXL at that same spot.

The call for new songs for Liet International 2018 XXL is now officially opened. Until Thursday 1 March 2018 musicians from all over Europe, performing in a regional or minority language can apply for Liet International 2018 XXL. They can find further information on the website of Liet International: call for new songs

The song festival for regional and minority languages Liet International is a Frisian (north of the Netherlands) initiative and was organised for the first time in the capital of Friesland, Ljouwert/Leeuwarden in 2002. Since 2006, the festival travels around Europe and since 2008, under the patronage of the Council of Europe. Liet International attracts each year a lot of media-attention – from BBC to Al Jazeera – and grew to one of the biggest events for the promotion of minority languages. In 2017, the latest edition of Liet International took place in Kautokeino, Sápmi, in the north of Norway.
